Question: Why are the handles faulty?

I went to open my door just as usual one morning and the thing popped off in my hand. The local auto parts place wants $120 for this handle...? Are you kidding? For it to just break off after only 3 years of use in my hands...and i'm a FEMALE! I will NOT pay that, I refuse! The dealer should be made known aware and the manufacturer should recall these models, replace these handles for FREE!
